I completed Modern & Contemporary American Poetry', so I guess I am a returner. This is my first time particiaping in SloPo, and I have read a bit from this author. She is quite good, I really enjoy being introduced to various authors. I love reading poery and practicing writing poetry. I have begun writing a chapbook although it is in very rough draft. Right now, I am looking for various up-to-date examples to include on CV. I live in Alberta Canada and besides poetry? predictive astrology and lately astrological herbalism

Hi everyone!
I'm Soni Vyas-Weit, from Port Clinton, Ohio, Walleye Capital of the World, on the shores of Lake Erie.
Last year was my first ModPo experience, and I was floored!
I love language, literature, and poetry, and ModPo was an addictive ride for this mom of a 12- and 14-year-old. I started out very strong, but election season came around in the middle of ModPo, and I was busy knocking on doors, so I lost a little gas by the end in November. We're in an off-year now, so already looking forward to fall.
I'm a Slo-Po newbie, and am not familiar with Joan Retallack, though I think I heard Al mention her in ModPo. I enjoy reading, piano, guitar, tennis, and rabble-rousing! Looking forward to diving in!

Hi, I'm a big fan of ModPo. I have never been able to really enjoy poetry on my own, but I love to experience poetry in community. I completed ModPo in the Fall; this is the first time I have tried SloPo. It's great to find names of some of the friends whom I met during the Fall here at this offering, and I welcome everyone who is new to ModPo. I was introduced to Joan Retallack through her writing during ModPo; I also had the honor of meeting her personally at a ModPo zoom office hour with Erica Kaufman. I am a retired speech therapist; I also have a passion for theology, psychology, sociology and ethics. I live in Central Pennsylvania.

Hi Everyone,
I've been in (and out) of ModPo and SloPo classes for a while. Until recently, I was a Philadelphian and enjoyed workshops and readings at KWH in person. Now that I'm in Los Angeles, I realize what a fantastic resource it is and how strong the poetry scene in Philadelphia is. Taking the Joan Retallack SloPo is giving me a chance to think about poetry a little differently than usual and read some work I normally wouldn't. I've written two full-length books of poetry, two chapbooks and published in some lit journals. I'm poetry editor for Dark Onus Lit (first issue due out soon). Looking forward to the upcoming discussions.

Hi everyone! I'm new to ModPo and SloPo, and have never ready any Joan Retallack, so I'm excited to join you all. I work as a reporter in Indianapolis but originally am from New York, where I went to college and studied English. I found ModPo while browsing some Coursera classes hoping to jump back into the literature courses I enjoyed in college but haven't had a chance to study since graduating!

Hi All and Felíz Año from Panama where I have been based over the past 25 years, originally from New York City. I am new to ModPo and have not yet taken a SloPo course, though very much looking forward to it and this engagement with Retallack's work on a more extensive level. I'm familiar with just some of her work and it stayed with me, and have always wanted to read more of it, figuring what a special and rare opportunity this would be. I am a writer and poet, my first full-length collection of poetry ("Hithe") came out in the UK in 2021. I am currently working on new poetry and photo essays which embrace themes in poetics, landscape and art in various forms. I also work with collage, book arts and photography. I am curious and interested in many things, love to read, create, travel when I can, dialogue with others and be physical outdoors whether it be hiking, swimming, pilates, walking. I look forward to our exchanges. Thanks!

Hello Everybody My friends call me Stacy and you can too. I am new to MODPO and SLOPO. I started the Fall 2022 MODPO too late, not doing any of the assignments. Currently up to week7 and hope to complete it while this SLO PO is going on. Love watching the video discussions and reading poems unfamiliar to me! I am not familiar with Joan Retallack.
I am a native New Yorker (Bronx) but have lived in the Philly burbs for a long time. I am also a retired pediatric speech language pathologist/public health consultant. I am a runner; been a runner nearly my entire adult life. I wrote poetry as an adolescent and college student. I am bilingual in Greek and travel there frequently. I spend 3 months a year in Northern California and will be flying out there on 1/17/23. Hope to make it to the live Brentwood forum in February!!!
Excited to be part of this community. Thank you for including me.

Hello all. I'm Barry Moffatt from New Zealand where, at least in Auckland where I am found, we are enjoying (?) day four of a tropical storm. (Note the tropical bit!) I've participated in ModPo several times and have done two or three mini-courses. I discovered Joan Retallack through her book,'Musicage: Cage Muses on Art and Music'. It consists of a number of conversations with John Cage over the last couple of years of his life. I'm a long term Cage follower and the sympathy reflected in Retallack's conversations with Cage led to my looking into her work. This course will 'deepen' that look.

Greetings and Happy 2023 to you all. I'm Marcia (MAR-shuh) and I'm here to find myself at home...in a poetry home. I've been MoPo'ing since the Pandemic began, flitting around on my own and enjoying absolutely every moment that I've been able to give it. I am new to SloPo and am excited to be so. Besides poetry, I love yoga, swimming in the ocean, dogs, and road trips. But poetry is for me the cornerstone of my being and possibly might be the reason I am here. I look forward to hanging, sharing, and learning with you all.

Hi, I'm Andrew. I've really enjoyed the last slopo sessions, but don't have much worth hearing in forums. Read her essay "What is experimental poetry and why do we need it?"

Hi Everyone, Have done ModPo, first time embarking on SloPo, though. I live down in San Diego and we are having quite some rainfall at the moment. "Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup..." I have been translating Rumi [rumiblog.com] and writing poetry for many years (1984); my day job is with a big tech company, my side job is as an adjunct for San Jose State and UC San Diego where I teach Data Science in the Master's program.
Enjoy how Al puts together the curriculum; and have read Joan Retallack with enthusiasm. There is poetry in everything; if you look deep enough inside yourself.
