Hi brand new 2023 ModPo. Wipe off all the scum of the previous year and keep us going through this coming one. I'm a ModPo returner, and dedicated believer in spending even a short amount of time on a short poem and listening and reading your thoughts. So I've from the Boston area, and never heard of Joan Retallack. The only real poet I know is Richard Fein who is a Yiddish poet, and love to just spend time with him talking about anything related to his new collections which he publishes 2-3 times a year.

First of all I am SO EXCITED about this new discussion forum! I am optimistic that it will be far better suited to the ModPo Way than the old Coursera boards (which I appreciate work well for what they are designed for - which is not the amount of discussion we ModPoers love).
I live in Bristol in the UK and have been round ModPo for the last 3 years. I didn't manage to engage as much as I would have liked last autumn due to family health issues but things are quieter now (relatively) and I am looking forward to more poetry! I've dipped in and out of SloPo, I sometimes find it harder to maintain the momentum compared to ModPo proper. I only know Joan Retallack from the ModPo poem 'Mot a Cage' which I do love, and which I often think of every time I (reluctantly) find some of my books a new home.
As far as other things go, I love to read and write, and garden when the weather is a bit more friendly. I also have four children, two of whom I homeschool, and various animals, all of which keeps me fairly busy.
Can't wait to (re)meet all of you and get started.

Hi. I teach creative writing at UConn Stamford. I have published two poetry chapbooks and I’m working on a full-length book. My primary focus is ecopoetry, broadly defined as poetry concerned with ecological interrelationships, without pinpointing human centrality. I am also a Feldenkrais practitioner and am interested in exploring relations through embodied and cognitive faculties. I live in Garrison NY near the Hudson River and plant native plants for pollinators. I'm not very familiar with Joan Retallack's poetry and struggle, respectfully, with her prose. I look forward t this opportunity to dive in deeper.

Hi Everyone. I've done ModPo for the last couple of autumns (though not as much time last autumn, sadly) and had some interaction with SloPo courses last winter.
What is there other than poetry (reading, writing and going to poetry events as guest and reader take up most of my me time)? I live in Devon, UK. I home educated both my children and my youngest is now 18 so we've not got long to go with 'formal' education. Not that I see it like that, at all. I'm more of a life-long learning mindset. I love natural history, genealogy, swimming, music, philosophy, film etc when I can fit them in.
I'm hoping I can fit in participating here (I've not been well recently and so there's a backlog on top of other commitments). Let's see how it goes.

My first Slopo and minicourse and eager to expand my repertoire of poetry reading. I've published an poetic narrative memoir and continue to write poetry, submit to online journals and working on my second narrative book. I also make ceramic art, mobiles, photocollage, garden, swim, walk a lot, based in NYC during the winter and otherwise in Putnam County, NY. I'm almost retired from a long career in medicine.

Hello good peoples & happy new year. I’m Denny Stern and responsible for much past confusion regarding my legal moniker Nicholas (as much as I could blame my parents for that I suppose). I’ve been following Modpo since 2014 and have read Retallacks poethical wager several times before but as I have a mind like a sieve I will need to reread it if this is what we will be discussing. I’m equivocal about close reading because it can get in the way of the long reading I’m perennially behind on. I paint, write and drum not necessarily in that order nor simultaneously. Joan is lovely and I look forward to whatever of her work we do discuss.

Hi everyone, excited to be here. I have been around, but it was in 2021 fall when I dug my feet in, did the whole symposium mode, and joined a couple of slo po forums. What better way to begin the new year than a session with Al and Joan Retallack? I have been reading The Poethical Wager and it is amazing. I love Indian classical music and began music lessons a couple of years ago. I love reading, cooking, and traveling though the pandemic brought a halt to travel. Beginning the new year with a long-awaited trip to India after 5 years, at the end of January. Glad to see all the familiar Mod Poers here and welcome to all the newcomers.

Hello fellow readers. Im totally new to this way of reading, discussing and bonding with poetry/ literature lovers. I'm an English teacher and reading group facilitator from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I work full time, love poetry and contemporary fiction, so I try to read as much as I can. Never heard of this poet before. Thank you for enlarging my world!
